PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES

Compact partners come together to study, plan, and implement instructional practices through PLCs. Currently, teams from BPS, charter, and Catholic schools are learning how to use AI to better support multilingual learners with disabilities. Past PLCs have focused on topics such as multi-tiered systems of support or literacy for young Black and Latino boys. Our PLCs offer educators support from content experts.

RECRUITMENT

BPS, charter, and Catholic schools are committed to building a workforce of Boston educators who reflect the racial, cultural, linguistic, and gender diversity of our students. We do this by hosting two citywide recruitment fairs for teachers each year, one in-person and one virtual.

TRANSPORTATION

In Massachusetts, districts are responsible for busing all students. The Compact’s working group collaborates to strengthen yellow school bus safety and reliability while minimizing expenses. This requires significant data coordination across sectors.

ATTENDANCE

The Compact serves as a venue for addressing education challenges across the City of Boston. Working with Mayor Wu’s office, participants have developed common language for an attendance campaign addressing chronic absenteeism.
